Trezor.io/start — Get Started with Your Trezor Device

Official guide to set up your Trezor hardware wallet securely and quickly.

Welcome — why use Trezor?

Trezor is a hardware wallet that keeps your private keys offline so you stay in control of your crypto. This page guides you through the official setup flow using Trezor.io/start and Trezor Suite. Follow each step carefully and keep your recovery seed stored offline.

Step-by-step setup

1

Visit the official setup page

Open Trezor.io/start by typing the address directly into your browser. Avoid third-party links to reduce phishing risk. The page detects your device model and starts the guided flow.

2

Install Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is the official app (desktop & browser) used to manage your wallet. Choose the correct version for Windows, macOS, or Linux and follow installation prompts.

3

Connect your device & update firmware

Use the supplied USB cable to connect your Trezor. Trezor Suite will detect the device and guide you through any required firmware update — always install updates to maintain security.

4

Create a new wallet (or recover)

Choose “Create new wallet” if you are new. The device will generate a recovery seed phrase (12, 18 or 24 words). Write the seed down on paper — never store it digitally.

  • Store your seed offline in a secure place (safe, safety deposit box).
  • Do not share it with anyone.
  • Consider using a metal backup for long-term durability.
5

Set a PIN for extra protection

Set a PIN on your device to prevent unauthorized access if it is lost or stolen. Pick a PIN that is memorable to you but not easily guessed.

6

Explore your dashboard

Once set up, use the Trezor Suite dashboard to view balances, history, and send/receive transactions. You can manage multiple coins and tokens from one interface.

7

Try advanced features

Trezor supports advanced options like custom node connections, privacy tools, and integrations with wallets like MetaMask. Use these only after you understand how they change privacy or operational risk.
